Be Freed From The Box (Catalogue)

We treasure those beautiful memories and special objects in our hidden boxes to explore the idea of our personal identities, and to carve our characteristics in multiple dimensions. In the meantime, to stabilize our identities with strong belongings, we surround ourselves with societal norms and behaviors so that we blend in, we do not stand out, and we belong to certain communities. This subconsciously has become our ego, our baggage and our box.

This series is about manifesting a sense of tension against that box, to illustrate and to reveal what one cannot see in life but in impression, to reproduce what muses struck one the most – the necessary, to draw lines that are quick to the emotion, sublimated from life, memory and fantasy. The tension was portrayed within the figure or the figure to the space it occupied, pushing the boundary of the box we created to ourselves.
