Who says oil painting technique is only about layering on planes and adding material, it could also include smearing on planes and reducing material. An experiment of charcoal techniques with brushes on canvas with acrylic base, with limited palette in limited hours. Strategically to do less for more is an uncomfortable yet exciting time. Oil…

I believe portraiture is a life-time vocation for me as an artist. I would say I am an introvert. Socializing with people is essentially bringing me out of my comfort zone, however, by continuously “putting myself out there” I have got to know many wonderful people and beautiful souls. I am often troubled by my limited vocabulary and articulation skills in order to truly pay compliments to those characters who impact upon my life.
Alternatively and fortunately, drawing and painting becomes my language to express my feeling about their stories from my gaze. I sometimes portray the same character in different media, which exposes something new and different. It is always fascinating, surprising and rewarding to me.
Through my travels around the globe, I have encountered people from many walks of life. They too are a tremendous source of inspiration for me as an artist. I
am anthropologically intrigued by the rich art and culture of the places I have visited. These experiences have added so many layers of complexity to representation of the inhabitants I choose to portray.

Intrigued
Imagine the colour schemes of all the brain chemistries when we are intrigued: the interest, the curiosity, the fascination, and maybe high expectation aroused in our heads. Oil on canvas, 400 mm x 500 mm

Hannibal Lector Remaster
An experiment of alla prima on an old work. Wish to capture and reveal the subtle humanity and softness in such a iconic and intoxicating character. Oil on canvas, 400 mm x 600 mm
Her Confident Smirk
She smirked in front of me, with strong confidence, confidence that came from naturally born fiery hair and steady and cool mind, as cool as the crystal blue ear ring, saying “I’ve got this!” Oil on canvas, 300 mm x 400 mm
The Immovable Mind
Oil on canvas, 400 mm x 500 mm
Atlas
The color white usually represents purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. Atlas was born with a perfect balance of white, ready to imprint his life and Grace’s life with all the colors of the spectrum from their life experiences together. Instead of portraying Atlas in its original colour, I would like him to be splashed with…
